Empowering Volunteer Management with a Custom White-Label Mobile App

01 Where it all started

TeamKinetic, a UK-based non-profit, focuses on strengthening communities through efficient volunteer management. Despite their successful partnerships and existing web-based tool, they recognised the need for a more streamlined volunteering experience. Their goal was to develop a native mobile app to simplify the process of discovering and tracking volunteering opportunities.

02 Where we came in

We collaborated with TeamKinetic to transform their web platform into a mobile-friendly application using React Native. This approach ensured a consistent user experience across both iOS and Android devices. Additionally, we incorporated white-labelling capabilities, allowing partner organisations to create branded versions of the app.

03 What we delivered

Working closely with TeamKinetic, we developed the app through a structured process. We began by mapping out the existing web app and identifying areas for mobile optimisation. The resulting application primarily assists volunteers in finding new opportunities and includes several key features:

  • Opportunity Searching: Volunteers can search for local opportunities using keywords and filters based on their distance, making it easy to find suitable opportunities.
  • Browsing and Joining Opportunities: Volunteers can browse opportunities, view detailed information, and join directly from the app.
  • Tracking and Logging Hours: Volunteers can log their hours, earn badges, and receive recognition for their contributions, adding a gamification element.
  • Communication and Document Management: Volunteers can chat with others, upload necessary documents, and receive documents from opportunity providers.
  • Expense Claims: Volunteers can upload receipts and claim expenses, simplifying the reimbursement process.
  • White Labelling: The app can be customised and branded for different organisations, providing flexibility and tailored experiences.

The app is available on both iOS and Android platforms, ensuring accessibility for a broad user base.

Other features:

  • User Profiles: Volunteers can create and manage their profiles, track their volunteer journey, and showcase their achievements.
  • Event Management: Organisations can create, manage, and promote events, with volunteers able to register and participate directly through the app.
  • Notifications: Real-time notifications keep volunteers updated on new opportunities, events, and important announcements.
  • Analytics and Reporting: The app provides detailed analytics and reporting tools for organisations to track volunteer engagement, measure impact, and make data-driven decisions.

The new app has notably improved the volunteer experience, making it easier for users to find and engage with various opportunities. Currently, TeamKinetic is collaborating with several partner organisations to create customised versions of the app. We continue to work closely with them, focusing on adding new features and functionality to enhance the user experience further.
